goki baby – pollutant-free, handmade baby toys made in Germany
Made with love: baby toys that encourage and inspire. The goki baby series has been manufactured 100% in Germany for over 60 years and is lovingly handcrafted. Only non-toxic, saliva-resistant and sweat-proof colors as well as safe adhesives without nitrocellulose lacquers are used. This makes the products inherently safe and ideally suited for babies.
We are nominated!
The Federal Association of Toy Retailers (BVS) has nominated our Elastic Rainbow Van Clutching Toy (Art. No.: 65359) for the “TOP 10 Baby & Child 2026”. The TOP 10 Baby & Child jury will begin selecting the ten winning products from the pool of all nominees in early 2026. We are keeping our fingers crossed for ourselves and the other nominees!
Wooden clutching toys are essential for baby hands. They trigger the grasping reflex and promote the developmental processes for targeted reaching. In the process, many sensory impressions are conveyed that help the baby explore its environment.
Our nominated wooden clutching toy from the goki66 line represents all our wooden clutching toys and can already be ordered online or purchased at your specialist baby store and given to the new addition to the family with love.
Highest standards for the little ones
While babies discover the world, they especially like to put toys in their mouths. Therefore, special care is required in the production of baby toys.
For our baby toys, for example, water-based acrylic paints are used. After drying, these form polymer structures that are fundamentally no longer water-soluble. So it is perfectly fine if they are chewed on.
We test each of our toys using a wide variety of procedures to ensure that they meet our standards and, above all, are safe. However, human saliva and mechanical stress (rubbing, sucking, nibbling) cannot be fully simulated in tests and in the laboratory. Enzymes, pH value, temperature and much more influence color stability. Once the paint has been compromised, solubility behavior can no longer be predicted – swelling of the wood reinforces the effect. Therefore, reality does not necessarily coincide with normative requirements, as the DIN 53160 standard for sweat and saliva resistance is fully met by all our baby products.
This means that in some cases, paint may come off under intensive use. For these cases, the paint is additionally analyzed according to DIN EN71-3, which describes the release of harmful elements through gastric acid simulation. Naturally, the colors of our baby toys comply with this standard, which is why there is no danger to the child even if paint is swallowed!
But don’t other toys also not rub off?
Yes, perhaps, but: One way to prevent color transfer is to use clear lacquers. However, these are solvent-based and always carry a higher risk of containing pollutants. For this reason, clear lacquers for color protection are usually avoided in our baby toys – and as a consequence, we occasionally receive complaints regarding occurring color transfer. This is currently the compromise we make.
Of course, we are not satisfied with this and are constantly testing new color systems, which unfortunately have not yet delivered optimal results.
We give our best for the little ones.
